Fashion is a staple of life. Here are the top ten fashion trends that made it this summer/spring:
This groovy psychedelic trend can be traced to the 60s and is now a big trend that made it both on and off the runway and shows no sign of leaving anytime soon. The 2019 take on the trend is very chic and can be worn either as a dress or a two-piece look. For those of you into blazers, the tie-dye trend is for you too. R13, Prada, Proenza Schouler, and Stella McCartney are the top brands with tie-dye in their catalogue. But perhaps the greatest thing about this trend is that it is also very DIY. Just grab an old white shirt, some rubber bands and your own choices of dye and hop onto it.
2. Boiler suits
This season was all about the utilitarian theme, even seeing the return of the fanny pack. But the one that undeniably stood out the most was the boiler suit. Originally it was a work garment meant for manual labour. Now it got a fashionable spin to it that is both casual and stylish. We already love jumpsuits and this season has given us the hottest iteration so far in the form of this boiler suit. Available in different styles, you can pick out the colour and cut that fits you most.
3. Bike Shorts
I guess some trends are pretty unexpected and bike shorts are one of them. From Fendi to Chanel, this trend has taken over summer fashion, and blazers with bike shorts look to be the next style statement. It even comes in leather! This trend has quite a few iterations, and a raw hem with its frayed look is yet another unique one.
This summer seems to have come with some pastel love. Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, and Emilia Wickstead have all embraced light purple and made it the next new trend for the season. A head-to-toe ensemble with lavender is an incredibly stylish look to try.
5. Earthy tones
This season has once again shown that head-to-toe neutrals are extremely hot. Earthy tones seemed to be the favourite this spring. Its subtle appeal is no less of an eye-catcher. Burberry, Max Mara and Tom Ford had some of the best to show on the runway.
A fancy trend this season that Marc Jacobs, Oscar de la Renta, Loewe, and Gucci all hopped onto is the feather look. Dramatic, fun, fancy and whimsical – feathers is this season’s trendy way to accent a look. One of the boldest ones yet is the feather-hemmed jeans sold by Alice + Olivia.
Another texture that we fell in love with is the fringe. A colourful fringe adds more personality to your wardrobe. Tom Ford, Aigner and Emporio Armani used the fringe to add sway to close-fitting dresses. This classic western-inspired trend is now used to style modern everyday wear.
8. Shield Sunglasses
Oversized sunglasses are here to prove that bigger is better. It adds a futuristic element to your entire look.
9. Square toe
Square-toed shoes with its clean geometric shape can add an edge to your look and toughen it up.
10. Shrunken bags
This season saw a unique trend of bags shrunken down in size. This miniature bag values style over function but is very quirkiness indeed.
